Utilizing a 12 volt 9 amp hour Sealed Lead Acid Battery (SLA) enclosed within a 1000 denier, highly visible safety orange Ballistic Nylon case; the 1209 features 2 fused 15 amp outputs with Anderson Power Pole connectors and a built-in cable pouch that houses the output cable connectors, cables and accessories. The case is equipped with non-conductive heavy duty zippers and a soft grip carry strap.

Weighing in at just over 5 pounds the 1209 carries easy and delivers power to spare (a Trimble R8 or Topcon Hiper will operate for up to 30 hours or more on a single charge).

The fused outputs and polarity protected Anderson Power Pole connectors insures that the equipment under power is well protected from short circuits and reverse polarity problems that can happen with power cables equipped with alligator clips.

Unique Features:

The image on the right shows two 1209 packs connected together. The output of one pack is plugged into the output of the second pack. The universal nature of the Power Pole connectors allows for this ability. In this configuration the output voltage remains at 12 volts. However the amp hour rating doubles to 18 amp hours. In fact many 1209 packs can be paralleled together in this way to increase the amp hour rating of the array. The total amp hour rating is the sum of the individual packs amp hour rating. 3 packs, 27 amp hours; 4 packs, 36 amp hours; etc.

In this example one pack has an instrument power cable connected and the other pack has the SAE 2-pin receptacle attached. The common connection between the packs allows the current draw from both loads to divide evenly between the two battery packs. 

The 1209 can be furnished with multiple instrument power cables to supply power to a variety of GPS Receivers, Instruments, and Total Stations. Cables swap quickly and store conveniently in the zippered pouch.

Leica users will appreciate the GEB171 conversion adapter. This is a short cable that plugs into one of the two fused outputs of the 1209 pack and has a 5-pin LEMO SOCKET that accepts all of your standard Leica 5-pin power cables. This effectively converts a 1209 pack into a GEB171. However the 1209 has one spare output that can be used for recharging the pack or to attach another power cable.

Both the GEB171 and GPAC 1209 packs are 9 amp hour rated at 12 volts. The GPAC 1209 pack has a single deep discharge SLA as opposed to multiple low voltage cells used in the GEB171. The cost of rebuilding a GEB171 is many times more expensive than replacing the single SLA used in the 1209 making long term operational cost much lower. In addition the battery replacement is easily done in the field and requires no special tools, soldering, or special skills.
